Rustic Living

Hurricane Sandy smashed into the East Coast yesterday causing terrible flooding, power outages and debris everywhere. Most of lower Manhattan spent last night in the dark as my sister informed me she was left without power in Chelsea. As for those on the west coast it was business as usual. Monday and Tuesday have been standard. Work might have been a little slow for some, but I and the rest of the west coast still had to show up in the office. I'm posting some rustic living photos as an 'Ode' to those who spent last night in the dark and reverberated to a time when people didn't have electricity, ipods and cellphones. There is something so elegant about returning to simple way of living and having an interior space that supports this lifestyle. I love how these photos showcase materiality and simplicity; however, interest still persists due to the thought and consideration that was put into selecting materials and found objects. There is an emotional inviting presence found in these spaces asking the inhabitants to write a story with architecture and beautiful textured objects.

Judge A Book By Its Cover

Kate Spade for most woman is definitely a shop that is deemed worthy for cute bags, shoes and other stylish accessories. The other day I was casually Internet browsing and stumbled upon these must have Kate Spade Book Clutches. What a great fashion accessory to add a hint of interest to an outfit and what a great conversation piece!? Time to go Party! Cocktail hour, please! Each Clutch is $325- but certainly worth the price as I feel this is an accessory that one would keep for a long time. I've seen the book clutch adorned by celebrities in previous fashion magazines and on the web some years ago, but I think the style is still relevant and not dated so I helped myself to Kate Spade's version of Pride & Prejudice. The Great Gatsby was also a strong contender, but I settled on P & P due to the color palette and of course the amazing story about the heroin Elizabeth Bennett. So please by all means judge my book by its cover.

Casual or Dressed up! Perfect accessory should do both!

It even has pearls

I would like to think that Daisy Buchanan would want one of these....and Jay Gatsby would probably have bought her one.

I think I will read this book? No, I think I'll put my lip gloss and ipone in this instead...

Love the romantic colors

How Avant-Garde and Deconstructed, but still Preppy as ever!

I want them ALL!

Vintage Travel Days

I just returned today from an amazing evening in San Diego for a fund raising event benefiting a NGO called Project Concern International. The event was held at the La Costa Resort and I will follow-up later with another post about the event. It was a special evening to bring awareness to a great cause and of course catch-up with family and friends. My aunt and uncle are jet-setting off to London tonight for meetings and holiday and I became a little nostalgic for Europe. The discussion about their trip made me recall my memories of studying aboard, traveling to different countries and traveling with my finace for the first time. We are contemplating our honeymoon in Europe, which of course gets me very excited! How vintage is the notion about how couples would travel to Europe following their wedding for the honeymoon. The intention to relax, but most importantly to see other family and friends. Must put traveling to Europe on the priority list.... International Travel! Please! Oh hell, I'll take any excuse to travel...........................anywhere....................
