Veil It Is!

Tomorrow is Wedding Dress shopping! The initial shopping experience for this piece of fashion that every woman (I'm assuming most women) in truth dream about. It’s a big deal! It’s your wedding dress the mark that you are taking the leap into marriage, kissing singledom goodbye and starting a new chapter as Mrs. someone. And it happens all at once while wearing a wedding dress. I have no clear vision of the dress or certain styles that I like or don't like. I'm going into this with no expectations other than I know I don't want a strapless dress. I want more modesty and elegance and I feel that a strapless lacks a certain appropriateness for a church wedding. Why do you think Kate Middleton didn’t go strapless?  I'm converting to Catholicism so let’s show some respect in God’s house.  The one fashion accessory for this big day I do know I want is the 'veil.' Town & County Weddings just featured an article about veils and the conclusion was the tradition of wearing a veil has antiquated perceptions, but overall it is up to the individual to determine if they want to wear a veil. And look, these ladies all look ravishing in their wedding dresses and veils to boot! The veil completes the look and the enduring vision of a beautiful bride. And so, a cathedral veil is a must!

Oh Kate....

Ivanka Trump in Vera Wang

Elizabeth Banks- wearing an off-white silk-chiffon Christian Dior gown and a veil handmade by her mother.

Megan Fox in Armani Prive

Sweden Princess in a classic off-the-shoulder satin gown by Pär Engsheden, which featured a sixteen-and-a-half-foot train.

Gwen Stefani in Dior. This look works for her!

Carolyn Bessette in Narciso Rodriguez

Tricia Nixon- The first wedding to ever to take place in the White House Rose Garden was Tricia Nixon and Edward Cox’s 1971 fete. The bride wore a classic lace design by Priscilla of Boston.

Nicole Kidman- an ivory silk chiffon gown by Nicolas Ghesquiere for Balenciaga and Fred Leighton antique diamond-and-pearl earrings.

Bride Wars stars Anne Hathaway & Kate Hudson in their respectable gowns & veils

Carry Bradshaw in her Vvivienne Westwood. Only Carry would know how to add some pizzazz to a wedding veil

Drew Barrymore in Chanel

Elizabeth Tayler and Husband .1- Atleast she looks beautiful

Grace Kelley in a dressed designed by Helen Rose of MGM

Jackie Kennedy in Anne Lowe

Lauren Bush & David Lauren

I just love this picture of the Bride & Groom from a Town & County Magazine

Ok,  yes I ended this post with Saved By the Bell's Zack Morris (Mark-Paul Gosselaar) and Kelly Kopowski (Tiffani Amber Thiessen) they got hitched in Vegas during the show's 1994 series finale. The bride wore a short-sleeve design with a beaded bodice and topped off her brunet bob with a veil. I love the 90s.

Present Perfect

Saturday my family hosted a beautiful Engagement Party for me and fiancé in Southern California. Despite the humid weather the party was great, the food was excellent, the company was perfect and it was exciting that my fiancé’s family and mine could meet before the big day. With an engagement party and weddings buzzing in my head One Kings Lane just so happened to feature yesterday an entire sale devoted to weddings, wedding showers all the way to honeymoon apparel and accessories. I have a vision of the aesthetics I desire for the wedding, which I will feature in another post regarding my colors and theme, but for now here are some of the highlights from One Kings Lane homage to weddings. Oh did I mention I’m going wedding dress shopping this weekend!? Bring on LA, champagne and Vera.
.

I love the artisinal shabby-chic look of  these vases

His/Her Coasters, so fun! (Bell'Invito)

Love this cover of an August 1955 Brides Cover. How Elegant?
 Silver Cups! Mint Julips Anyone?
Everything looks better when served on a silver tray

I'm still disappointed that I haven't been to French Laundry when I was living in San Francisco. Bouchon was excellent, but I still want the full Thomas Keller experience.

Dresses, Dresses & more beautiful dresses. I need to buy this book just to swoon!

I will be registering at Williams-Sonoma because I want everything from there. Who doesn't love eating especially off of beautiful place settings and drinking from exquiste glasses? This girl!

Great entertaining piece. Love the copper by Old Dutch

Another piece for entertainging that I thought was interesting. I like the rustic elegance. Old Dutch

Shades Make The Outfit

I love a good pair of sunglasses and on this Monday morning I would love nothing more than to put on a pair of sunglasses, yes inside the office, and drink my coffee. I do not care how ridiculous it looks. I want dark, I don't want to make eye contact and I def. do not want to discuss anything work related at 9 AM or make bantering small talk.  I'm exhausted from a really fun, but long weekend and blood shot eyes are never a good look. Wearing sunglasses inside should become a fashion norm. Outfits and personalities look better when the individual is wearing shades. This post is a small appreciation to sunglasses and how sunglasses complete the look. I wish I could be rocking my Givenchy Sunglasses right now.
