Rustic Living

Hurricane Sandy smashed into the East Coast yesterday causing terrible flooding, power outages and debris everywhere. Most of lower Manhattan spent last night in the dark as my sister informed me she was left without power in Chelsea. As for those on the west coast it was business as usual. Monday and Tuesday have been standard. Work might have been a little slow for some, but I and the rest of the west coast still had to show up in the office. I'm posting some rustic living photos as an 'Ode' to those who spent last night in the dark and reverberated to a time when people didn't have electricity, ipods and cellphones. There is something so elegant about returning to simple way of living and having an interior space that supports this lifestyle. I love how these photos showcase materiality and simplicity; however, interest still persists due to the thought and consideration that was put into selecting materials and found objects. There is an emotional inviting presence found in these spaces asking the inhabitants to write a story with architecture and beautiful textured objects.
