Emeralds Ahead!

Happen to be checking out one of my favorite lifestyle blogs, Habitually Chic, and there featured as the premier image was the book dedicated to Fornasetti. Too funny! I thought it would be appropriate to highlight since my last posting. Will have to add this book to the wish list on Amazon.com. Anyhow, Heather Clawson's post was all about Pantone's 2013 color of the year: Emerald Green. I couldn't agree with Heather more that green is certainly a stable color for any wardrobe. I couldn't help myself to a pair of emerald green Tory Burch jeans a few weeks ago. Such a chic color! I'm green with envy!

The T&C Gift Guide

This post is a follow-up post to yesterday's post about Fornasetti and his unique style and designs. I received the December issue of Town & Country, and was perusing as usual and this month's issue features none other than T&C's gift guide. All the gifts are spectacular and I found it hilarious that all the gifts are associated with various influential individuals' persona's. The fun part is deciphering which one you resonate with the most. A fun way I think to get inspiration for some unique gift giving ideas. T&C just so happened to feature a Fornasetti Burlesque Candle that author E L James would probably have sitting on her writing desk. Therefore, I wanted to point out a few websites where you can find delectable Fornasetti items to add to your own. Enjoy.

Fornasetti - The Unique One!

One of my favorite interior design projects we did in design school was the renovation of a restaurant in a San Francisco neighborhood: Laurel Heights. The restaurant is called Ella’s and it is a little restaurant situated on a corner with people frequenting there for breakfast and lunch. The objective of the project was to update Ella’s so it would grow into a dinner spot and be able to complete with Spruce, one of San Francisco’s top restaurants. I choose this theme that paid homage to this Italian painter/sculptor/interior design named Piero Fornasetti. He’s famous for creating more than 11,000 items with majority featuring the face of a famous opera singer named Lina Cavalieri. Fornasetti's stlye emulates this weird vibe to it, but due to the variety and uniqueness of all the images, there is this curious uncanny emotion that draws us in……..This bizarreness of his designs with yet the strong punctuation of detail makes Fornasetti  a strongly desired artist.

Graphic Elegance- For the Interiors

I was casually perusing the web searching for the next posting and I happen to stumble upon a photo of an interior by Russell Groves, an interior designer located in New York City. I thought, “wow, that photo….I’ve seen it somewhere before, but where?” I clinked on the photo and low and behold the picture was from the current November 2012 Architectural Digest. No wonder I recognized the photo of this exquisitely arranged living room. I was drawn to the photo by Grove’s use of muted palette, oversized and intriguing artwork and the functional antique/vintage yet modern furniture pieces. The textiles of the room are rich and have depth. The space is elegance, but is still inviting that you want to hang out there. You want to show it off. You want to live there. The rest of images of the remodel by Groves are strikingly interesting. Each image is unique, but Groves creates a common theme throughout with the use of paint, fabrics, wallpaper, and lighting. To read the article about Russell Groves' work on this gorgeous North Carolina Home please click here.

Melisse Shaban, left, and Jane Elizabeth Phillips asked architect and designer Russell Groves to recast a Raleigh, North Carolina, house to suit their taste.
